  • Legal Aid Committee of MNLU organized Online START-UP WORKSHOP at VNIT on February 6 & 7, 2021

Many a times we have heard that ‘Ideas are easy; Implementation is hard’. Realizing the said psyche of young entrepreneurs, the Legal Aid Committee of Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur collaborated with the Entrepreneurship Cell or E-Cell of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur to organize a unique Workshop. Traditional beneficiaries of the Legal Aid Committee include underprivileged sections of the society, persons affected by disasters, women and children, however, Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, MNLU, Nagpur believes that all sections of society where there exists a dearth of legal understanding and knowledge is a beneficiary for the Committee. In pursuance to this the Legal Aid Committee of Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur under the abled guidance of Dr. RaginiKhubalkar, Faculty Advisor for Legal Aid Committee arranged the Workshop titled ‘Legal and Regulatory Compliances of a Start-up’ was spread across five modules which were completed in a period of two days 6th and 7th February, 2021. It was only for the enthusiastic efforts from Dr. S. Bhat, Associate Professor at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, that the Workshop was not only unique but also unparalleled. Owing to the pandemic, the Workshop was hosted on the online platform.

The modules ranged from Introduction to Start-ups to Formation of Corporations ending with Insolvency and Dispute Resolutions. While the focus of the modules was on the legal and regulatory compliances for formation of corporations and resolution of disputes, Fair Trade comprising topics of environment and consumer protection and competition law were comprehensively dealt with. Start-ups and Intellectual Property fit hand-in-glove and accordingly an entire module was designed relating to the same. Other contemporary legal issues like the legality of e-contracts and interplay between competition law and intellectual property were aptly highlighted. Students of Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur delivered lectures relating to the module making the Workshop entirely student-run. The Legal Aid Committee looks forward to organizing more Workshops in association with Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur.
