Dr. Nitu Kumari

Dr. Nitu Kumari is an accomplished academic and educator, currently serving as Assistant Professor of History (Senior Scale) at Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur. With over eight years of teaching experience, she has been actively engaged in imparting interdisciplinary legal and historical education to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Her teaching portfolio includes subjects such as Legal History, Legal and Constitutional Development, Indian History, International Law, Human Rights, Legal Methods, Constitutional Law, the Indian Constitution and Affirmative Action, Child Rights and Protection as well as Women's Rights and Protection.

Dr. Kumari also undertakes a range of significant academic and administrative responsibilities. She currently serves as the Head of the Department (HOD) of Social Sciences at MNLU Nagpur, and is an active Member of the Editorial Board of the Contemporary Law Review (CLR), MNLU Nagpur. In addition, she contributes as a Member of the SWAYAM Advisory Committee, among other academic and institutional roles.

Dr. Nitu is actively associated with several reputed national and international journals as an External Reviewer. She serves as a reviewer for the Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University Journal (DSNLUJ), Visakhapatnam, and is also affiliated with Manchester University Press (MUP), United Kingdom, reflecting her engagement with global academic publishing and peer review processes. Additionally, she is associated with Gender and Justice, an international and transdisciplinary journal published by Bristol University Press and Policy Press.

Beyond her research and publication commitments, Dr. Kumari also contributes to institutional life as the Faculty Advisor to the Sports Committee at Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Nagpur, Maharashtra, supporting student engagement and holistic development alongside academic excellence.

Dr. Kumari completed her higher education from the University of Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India. She earned her Ph.D. from the School of International Studies (SIS), JNU, New Delhi, India and is also a recipient of the prestigious UGC-NET Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

A dedicated scholar, Dr. Kumari has actively participated in and presented papers at numerous national and international conferences, seminars, and webinars. In recognition of her academic expertise, she has been invited more than 30 times as a keynote speaker, resource person, and guest lecturer at a wide range of prestigious institutions and programmes, including National Law Universities (NLUs), IIITs, central and state universities, as well as ICSSR and MHRD-sponsored initiatives.

Her research interests span gender justice, child rights, girl child issues, women's human rights, international politics, international organizations, legal history, and contemporary legal discourse. She has published extensively in reputed national and international journals and has contributed to several edited volumes.

Dr. Kumari is also associated with various national and international academic journals in editorial and review capacities. She has authored and co-authored multiple books with leading global publishers such as SAGE and Routledge. Her recent internationally recognized work, "Rights of the Girl Child in India: Struggle for Existence and Well- Being," published by Routledge, has received significant academic acclaim.
