Dr. Karishma B. Gavai
Assistant Professor of Law
Dr. Karishma B. Gavai was awarded her Ph.D. in 2025. She obtained her LL.B. in 2013 from Dr. Ambedkar College, Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur, securing the first position in the order of merit. She was conferred with 15 medals and prizes among all students at the 101st convocation of RTMNU, Nagpur, earning multiple gold medals for her outstanding academic performance. She completed her LL.M. (Criminology) in 2015 from Govindrao Wanjari College of Law, where she again stood first among all LL.M. students under RTMNU and received six medals and prizes at the 103rd convocation. She also qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) in 2015 and is presently pursuing an M.A. in Psychology.
Dr. Gavai has actively participated in various regional seminars and played an instrumental role in organizing legal aid camps across the Nagpur district. She began her academic career in 2015 as an Assistant Professor (Ad-hoc) at Dr. Ambedkar College, Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur. Since 2021, she has been teaching Criminology, Forensic Science, and Medical Jurisprudence to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Over the years, she has also taught subjects such as Cyber Crimes, Economic Crimes, Criminal Justice System, and Crime and Social Legislation.
She has guided numerous students in their socio-legal research projects as well as LL.M. dissertations and has been actively involved in co-curricular and extracurricular academic activities. Before joining the university, Dr. Gavai practiced at the Bombay High Court, Nagpur Bench. Her core areas of academic interest include Forensic Science, Medical Jurisprudence and Criminology.
Dr. Gavai joined Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, as an Assistant Professor of Law on 11th November 2016.
