BOOK RELEASE FUNCTION (Held on April 3, 2017 at Indian Law Institute, New Delhi)

A book titled ‘Law, Judiciary and Governance:A Festschrift in Honour of Prof. (Dr.) Mool Chand Sharma’,authored by Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur along with Prof. (Dr.) Naresh Kumar Vats and Dr. V.P. Tiwari of MNLU, Nagpur was releasedby Hon’ble Shri Justice A.K. Sikri, Judge Supreme Court of India as the Chief Guest andHon’ble Dr. Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Judge Supreme Court of India, as the Guest of Honour and Prof. (Dr.) Mool Chand Sharma, as the Guest of Honour at a function held on April 3, 2017 at Indian Law Institute, New Delhiin the gathering of more than hundred Professors, Advocates, Experts from Industry and Scholars. Prof. M.C. Sharma is a visionary scholar, a serious researcher, a deep thinker who has earned a distinct reputation in the world of legal scholarship and jurisprudence for his holistic, multi-disciplinary approaches. He has served in variety of ways for cause of teaching and learning of law, jurisprudence and society and social change. Foreword of the book has been written by Hon’ble Shri Justice A.K. Sikri, Judge Supreme Court of India. The Bookis a collection of 32 essays reflecting on rising issues and challenges of ‘Law, Judiciary and Governance’;among the key contributors are Hon’ble Shri Justice R.F. Nariman, Judge Supreme Court of India, Hon’ble Shri Justice B.R. Gavai, Judge Bombay High Court Bench at Nagpur, Lawyers, Academiciansetc. the authors conceived the concept of this boo keeping in mind that Prof. Sharma’s deep understanding and insights, foresighted analyzing and deconstructing approach towards evolving reflective, responsive and sensitive responses relevant to contemporary period and for future on issues apart from ones like that of-political-legal economy, law and legal dimensions of poverty; social justice and human development; globalisation, democratization, distributive justice and rising income inequality. The complexities and the ever evolving relationship of Law, Judiciary and Governance has been another important area of concern to which Prof. Sharma has been constantly addressing through his works and thus, the theme-‘Law, Judiciary and Governance’ was considered apt for the book. Book has been published by Universal Law Publishing-an imprint of LexiNexis, New Delhi. After the release function, a copy of the book was presented to Hon’ble Shri Justice S.A. Bobde, Judge Supreme Court of India and the Chancellor of the University.
